Dr. Pina-Oviedo was born in Mexico City, Mexico. He obtained his medical degree from the Universidad Panamericana School of Medicine in Mexico City, where he graduated with honors. During medical school, he also obtained a Master's Degree in Diagnostic Hematopathology from the "Instituto de Hematopatologia" in Mexico City. For a few years, he taught medical students the subjects of Histology and Cell Biology, Hematology, and Pathophysiology at his Alma Mater.
