Hi, I've played the course twice. First a pair competition and then, as a result, a round with my wife. There are quite some altitude differences on each of the 3 nine-hole stretchings. And there are quite a distance between end of a nine hole stretch and the beginning of another. We saw all in all 2 parties of players that walked, but since they were in a minority the pressure upon these 2 parties to play quicker was high, so my impression was that they didn't enjoy the course as much as they would have done if playing with a buggy. So yes, I really recommend a buggy. I don't know if you need to book in advance. We did anyway. For your information, in Sweden we don't use buggies either, since the walking is a part of the enjoyment with golf. But at Almenara I would say the reverse. We really enjoyed our golf round in the buggy. Enjoy your golf round(s)!
