A tortoise breeding center worth visiting on a way to Puerto Chino especially during the feeding day (I visited on Friday morning around 11). Free of charge. Full review by tobecontinent_com

I spent 3 days on San Cristobal and never saw or heard of a bus. It's all taxis. What you want to do is hail a taxi in town and for $30-40 the taxi will take you anywhere you want to go for 3-4 hours. That's enough to do the tortoise station, el Junco, and Playa Chino...pretty much all there is to see in the highlands. Back in town, don't miss the interpretive station/frigate bird hill/snorkeling in the lagoon there. Good luck!
