Israeli minister Benny Gantz has resigned from Benjamin Netanyahu’s war cabinet, delivering a blow to the prime minister who has been celebrating the rare rescue of hostages held in Gaza.

Benny Gantz, a centrist member of Israel’s three-man war Cabinet, has announced his resignation, accusing Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of mismanaging the war effort and putting his own “political survival” over the country’s security needs.

The centrist minister previously issued an ultimatum to the Israeli prime minister, warning that he would resign if a new plan for postwar Gaza was not mapped out.
