    The American Cream Draft Horse is exactly as the name describes. First, it is truly American, with roots back to a mare in central Iowa around 1905 known as “Old Granny” who was the foundation mare of this breed.     The breed registry for American Cream Draft was created in Iowa in 1944 by 20 owners of cream-colored draft horses. Two years later, 98% of its registered horses could be traced back to Old Granny. The breed was recognized by the Iowa Department of Agriculture in 1950.
