About 25,000 Microsoft employees work at or near the corporate campus in Redmond, Washington. (The rest are spread across the globe.) Blending collegiate camaraderie with an intense business environment, the "campus" in Redmond is a community unto itself. It's home to more than 2,800 works of art, 25 cafeterias, basketball courts, soccer fields, a baseball diamond, volleyball courts, miles of running and walking paths, and a company store. That's not all. There are resources: a multibillion-dollar R&D budget, a state-of-the-art resource center, modern technology, and the Microsoft Museum, which features interactive exhibits on everything from the very first personal computer to some of today's most exciting technologies.

But the ultimate attraction at the Microsoft corporate campus, as with any Microsoft location worldwide, is the opportunity to create technology that helps people do amazing things. It's what moves us and what moves us forward.

Located 13 miles from Seattle, the Microsoft corporate campus in Redmond, Washington, is more like a park than your typical corporate headquarters. It's surrounded by trees, has its own lake, and offers an abundance of recreation activities. There's plenty to see and do in the Puget Sound area. Think lakes and trails, theaters and museums, professional sports and a symphony. But recreation is only the tip of the iceberg at Microsoft's headquarters.

Sports
Take in the Seattle Mariners at Safeco Field, complete with a retractable roof, and home to the 2001 All-Star Game.

You're driving somewhere, and you look up and realize you live in one of the most beautiful places in the world.

Music
If you want live music, Seattle's got it all: rock, jazz, blues, classical, electronic-techno-industrial-trance-gothic... Even such classic Seattle sounds as zydeco and reggae boast thriving communities.

Theater and Film
If it's raining outside, there's still lots to do. Seattle has more than its fair share of theaters and a slew of film festivals too.

Art
Pioneer Square, a historic downtown neighborhood filled with character, is Seattle's version of SoHo.

The Emerald City has plenty to offer. Unless the latest thing you've read about Seattle was chiseled on a stone, you already know that this is one of the top 10 places to live in the country. Seattle is a big, diverse city, nestled in a natural setting of incomparable beauty. Even though the population of the region is 3.5 million and java jolts can be found on every corner, Seattleites are still laid-back enough to wait for the WALK signal to cross the street. And sure, it rains here, but did you know it rains more in New York and Atlanta? So whatever your interests, from hiking to pro sports to a night at the symphony, Seattle's got it-and you can do it.

Seattle Neighborhoods
Glimpses of sparkling water everywhere — Puget Sound, bays, lakes, rivers, canals. Steep hills. Lush greenery. And snowcapped Mount Rainier in the distance suddenly emerging from its mantle of clouds.

Eastside Neighborhoods
You'll find attractions galore in these growing Eastside cities and communities conveniently near Microsoft, set amid the Pacific Northwest's abundant natural beauty.

For the Kids
Since Seattle is such a great place to live, it only follows that it's a fabulous place to raise kids.
