Paul Johnson's book, Creators, is an entertaining and insightful exploration of the creative genius of a series of geniuses. Johnson's style is erudite yet highly accessible, and his remarkably broad background in literature, history and the fine arts qualifies him like few others to attack such a grandly sweeping topic. The essays on Durer, Tiffany and Balenciaga are particularly good, and the penultimate chapter compares Picasso and Walt Disney, disarmingly funny and apt. Highly recommended for anyone interested in the act of creativity.
